Come in to the Center for tortoise-related activities, presentations, crafts, and games. Kids can wear a “shell” to learn to move like a tortoise. Remember, tortoise shells tend to be taller and “domed,” while turtle shells tend to be flatter (more elongated). Turtles tend to have good feet for swimming, while tortoises tend to have good feet for digging! Learn the rules about the endangered/protected gopher tortoise: what should you do if you encounter a gopher tortoise in the wild? Why are they so endangered and what can you do to help them? If you find a gopher tortoise burrow or hole, what should you do/whom should you contact? Free with admission — see you at the Center!
