Derek Buzasi Talk “Flying Toasters — how to put the “Hot” into “Hot Jupiter” exoplanets

On Thursday, May 5 at 7:30 pm in the Planetarium, the SW Florida Astronomical Society presents a talk by Prof. Derek Buzasi, the Whitaker Eminent Scholar in Science at Florida Gulf Coast University. Dr. Buzasi will introduce the “hot Jupiter problem” and discuss the ways various science groups have tried to solve it, including his own contribution, a magneto-electric heating method he’s lightheartedly dubbed “Flying Toasters.” Dr. Buzasi’s work on this heating method was covered in Universe Today and in the Huffington Post, among other media. Business meeting to follow. SWFAS talks and meetings are free and open to the public.
